Bothell Service Center Cleanup Site

We want your comments

The city investigated the Bothell Service Center site (AKA Simon & Son Fine Drycleaning) under the Voluntary Cleanup Program (VCP). The investigation confirmed the presence of contamination in soil and a groundwater plume extending from beneath the former building to the east and southeast.

Site Location and former use

18107 Bothell Way NE

The 0.62-acre parcel of land previously housed a one-story commercial building built in 1988 that was demolished in August 2016. A dry cleaner operated at the west end of the building from 1988-1999.

Chemicals found

Dry cleaning solvents were released during this period and traced to the former dry cleaning facility. Soil and groundwater were contaminated by this release. The chemicals of concern are dry cleaning solvents and their breakdown products.
