228th St SE Pavement Overlay

This project is a part of Bothell's Pavement Preservation Program. Crews will overlay (pave) one mile of 228th St SE between just east of 19th Ave SE and west of 35th Ave SE.

  • Work starts on August 22. Some utility work will begin before the start of the project.
  • Nighttime road work may occur between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. after Labor Day.
  • The project is anticipated to be completed in October. Weather may alter this schedule.

Anticipate delays during construction. Lanes will be open but traffic will be slower.

Traffic Impacts

Between off-peak hours of 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., anticipate one lane of traffic on the roadway with two-way traffic control on 228th St SE from 19th Ave SE to 35th Ave SE (see map below).

During peak hours of 6 - 9 a.m. and 3 - 7 p.m., there will be one lane of travel in both eastbound and westbound directions.

The City received an $830,000 Surface Transportation Program (STP) grant from the Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC) for this overlay project.

  • Postcards will be sent to impacted residential and commercial properties.
  • Variable Message Boards will go up on August 15.
