Community Preparedness Study

Students from the UW-Bothell School of Nursing and Health Studies are again partnering with the City of Bothell for a community-based learning project. Students, who are Registered Nurses seeking their BSN degrees, will be canvassing neighborhoods in the City asking a series of questions to get a baseline of the community’s disaster readiness.

Interviews/canvassing will continue through August 7. All interviews and information provided is voluntary, but will help the community assess the impact of a large disaster and will further help the nursing students develop strong skills in community-based program development, population-based care and community partnership. Students wear yellow safety vests and will have name tags and identification.

If you are interested in completing an online survey, but were unavailable for an in-person interview, students may be leaving you a link to complete an online survey. We ask that you please consider filling it out to help with our assessments.

Karen Bowman, MN, RN, COHN-S, is the faculty advisor for this collaboration and can be reached via email or by phone at (206) 617-0844.

A final project collaboration will be ready for display in August.
