[ARCHIVED] Landmark Preservation Board to review application for demolition of two buildings in Country Village

Historic Country Village

The Bothell Landmark Preservation Board will meet on Tuesday, April 24, at 7:30 p.m. in City Hall, 18415 101st Ave. NE, to review an application by Urbane Village II for the demolition of two buildings in Country Village. The Board does not approve or deny the application. Under the Bothell Municipal Code (BMC 22.28.060) the Board’s role is to review the proposal and discuss alternatives to demolition with the applicant or develop a plan to mitigate the loss of the buildings.

The buildings proposed for demolition are the Ericksen House, current home to Whitehouse Antiques, and its associated Carriage House, formerly known as Green’s Garage and Farm House Antiques.

The Ericksen House and Carriage house buildings were once part of a large farmstead. Gerhard Ericksen and Dorothea C. Love Ericksen, early Bothell pioneers, lived on the property between 1913 and 1920. Ericksen was an early business figure, operating a general merchandise store on Main Street. Prior to the development of Country Village, the property was owned by Alma Green who operated Green’s Garage out of the carriage house.

Landmark Preservation Board meetings are open to the public and comments are always welcome.
