SR 522 Stage 3 Improvements

The SR 522 Stage 3 Improvements project – a component of the Sound Transit 3 SR 522 and NE 145th Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project – will widen general-purpose lanes along SR 522 and add Business Access and Transit (BAT) lanes in both directions, a sidewalk on the north side, center medians and streetlights. The project also includes the relocation of underground utilities and the addition of retaining walls. The City hosted a groundbreaking event with the City of Kenmore and Sound Transit at Red Brick Road Park in Bothell on Monday, April 15, and construction is expected to begin on Monday, April 22. Do you have questions about SR 522 Stage 3 Improvements? Project engineers will be available at an Open House on Thursday, April 25 between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Bothell City Hall to discuss this project with the community.

Sidewalk and Paving Repairs

In February, Public Works Maintenance and Operations staff repaired 229 potholes, plowed roads and managed cleanup in response to Snowmageddon 2019. In March, the team prioritized addressing additional pothole repairs across the City. To report a pothole in your area, please submit a Customer Action Request at bothellwa.gov/CAR.

Summer Pavement Projects Heating Up

The City is getting ready for a full schedule of paving projects this summer as part of the Safe Streets & Sidewalks levy-funded annual Pavement Preservation Program. Plans include repaving the roadway on NE Woodinville Dr. and repairing the pavement on 120th Ave. NE. Crews will also begin sealing cracks and patching asphalt in June, and later this summer, the slurry seal project will get underway in the neighborhood just west of Juanita Woodinville Way NE. Keep an eye out for project updates in next month’s newsletter.

Non-Motorized Improvements near Canyon Park Middle School

Construction is expected to begin in May on sidewalk segments and bicycle improvements on 19th Ave. SE, 232nd St. SE and 23rd Ave. SE near Canyon Park Middle School. This project is one of the key projects identified by the City’s Safe School Walk Routes Taskforce.
