Pedestrian Flags Crosswalk Program

About the Program

In partnership with the Northshore School District, The City of Bothell launched a school safety program at schools throughout Bothell. The program provides brightly colored pedestrian flags in containers at school crosswalks.

Student pedestrian safety was one of the top issues City leaders heard from parents when developing the Safe Streets & Sidewalk Levy. Studies show that pedestrian flags increase the percentage of drivers who stop for pedestrians in marked crosswalks.

Our next step is to expand the program to include other high-pedestrian areas like parks.
