What is LEOFF 1?
The Law Enforcement Officers and Firefighters (LEOFF) 1 is a retirement status for those Law Enforcement Officers and Firefighters who established membership with the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems prior to October 1, 1977. Those who established membership prior to October 1, 1977 have the benefit of medically necessary expenses being reimbursed by the City of Bothell. The LEOFF 1 Board will approve payment of reimbursement claims for all medical services defined in RCW 41.26.030 under the conditions set forth in RCW 41.26.150 and stated in Chapter 8 of the City of Bothell LEOFF 1 Board Rules.
What does the LEOFF 1 Disability Board do?
The Law Enforcement Officers and Firefighters (LEOFF) 1 Disability Board reviews disability claims and authorizes disability leave for former City of Bothell law enforcement officers and firefighters. For more information, please visit Bothell Municipal Code 2.88.
Meetings
The board meets the second Wednesday of the month at 5 p.m. as needed.
Membership
The board is made up of:
- two elected officials
- one active or retired law enforcement officer
- one active or retired firefighter and
- one member of the public.
