The City of Bothell's Park Donation Program is a wonderful way to:

  • commemorate a loved one
  • celebrate an event
  • enhance local parks and amenities
  • or simply give back to the community

The information in this guide covers bench, plaque, and general donations only. Thank you for your generosity and for considering the City of Bothell parks for your donation!

Benches and Plaques

Bench Location

The City of Bothell has more than 400 acres of parks to choose from. A complete list of all Bothell parks is available on the online Parks Guide

Many popular Bothell Parks have reached their limit of benches and tables. Due to the generosity of donors, the following parks are unavailable to receive additional bench or table donations:

  • Blyth Park
  • Brackett’s Landing
  • Cedar Grove
  • Doug Allen
  • North Creek Fields
  • Park at Bothell Landing
  • Volunteer Park

It is preferred that benches are placed in parks according to adopted Master Plans. Other locations may be approved by the Parks Operations Manager.

Bench Cost

The cost for a bench is $3,000 and includes: bench, plaque, concrete pad, installation and general maintenance for the life of the bench, which is estimated to be about 15 years.

Checks are currently the only method of payment accepted. Checks are to be made payable to the City of Bothell. Payment must be made in full prior to bench/plaque purchase and installation. Refunds will not be issued.

Bench Style

Bench will be similar in style to this photo, but color or other features may change based on final location. The park bench is 6 feet in length, and composed of colored, recycled plastic slats. Installation is completed by the Parks & Recreation Department.

Plaque

Your donation will be recognized by the placement of a plaque that will be mounted on the backrest of the bench.

  • One plaque, 4” in height by 6” in length, is included in the price of a donation for a bench.
  • Plaques are furnished by the City, with the content proposed by the donor.
  • Plaque may be provided by donor and installed by City staff (Council Resolution 1095). Plaque must be of high quality and workmanship.
  • Plaque text is limited to the name of the donor and/or person being honored, date and no more than 10 words description or explanation. The words “In memory of” or birth and death dates are not permitted. The words “In honor of” may be used. Recommended wording for a plaque is:

  • Donor can provide plaque content at the time of submitting donation form by filling the appropriate section on the form.
  • Spelling and content accuracy are the responsibility of the donor.
  • Plaque content is subject to review and approval by City staff.

Bench Maintenance

The City will maintain the donated bench for its natural lifetime, estimated to be approximately 15 years. Should vandalism occur, the City will make every effort to clean/repair bench.  If the bench becomes too unsafe to sit on or it it’s vandalized beyond repair or in a manner that makes it visually unacceptable or it no longer meets City standards, removal of the bench is at the sole discretion of the City.  The City may remove, relocate and shall otherwise have sole control over the donated bench.  The City makes no warranty to replace any damage or loss to a bench and/or plaque. Plaques become the property of the City and there is no guarantee of return in the event that the bench is removed.

While the City appreciates donations for benches, the City is under no obligation to accept donations even if the request meets all criteria set forth in the policy.  City of Bothell procedures, policies, guidelines and fees outlined in this guide are subject to periodic review and changes.
