The Bothell City Council is seeking committee members to advocate approval of or rejection of two ballot measures scheduled for the November 6, 2018 general election.
This week the Council unanimously voted to propose two ballot measures:
Proposition 1 -- Public Safety Levy Lid Lift:
Addresses operating needs, including funding 27 additional police officers, firefighters and support staff to provide timely, reliable response to Bothell residents
Proposition 2 -- Public Safety Capital Bond:
Funds the complete rebuild of two City-owned fire stations - Canyon Park and Downtown. Both fire stations need safety upgrades and technical modernization after over 30 years of 24/7 fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) response.
Council is seeking applicants to serve on the following committees:
- Proposition 1 Pro Committee
- Proposition 1 Con Committee
- Proposition 2 Pro Committee
- Proposition 2 Con Committee
Each committee will be responsible for writing statements that will appear in the local voters’ pamphlet (maximum of 200 words).The City Council anticipates appointing members at the July 17, 2018 Council meeting. Pro and con statements for the voters’ pamphlet are due to the King County Auditor by August 14, 2018, and to the Snohomish County Auditor by August 16, 2018.
Interested individuals should submit a letter of interest that identifies:
- which measure they are interested in
- indicates their support or opposition of the ballot measure and
- explains why they are interested in serving as a committee member.

Applications are due no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, July 9, 2018.
No more than three persons may be appointed to each committee.
