Updated 4/18 to reflect new construction start date.
Construction on the $30 million SR 522 Phase 3 project, from 96th Ave NE to 83rd Ave NE in Bothell, is scheduled to begin April 29. The project is part of Sound Transit 3 and is the largest road project by the City of Bothell to date.
The SR 522 Phase 3 project will bring significant benefits to bus riders, drivers and local residents. It supports the City’s downtown vision as a walkable, transit-friendly place by providing faster, more reliable transit service with the installation of Business Access and Transit (BAT) lanes. Installation of a sidewalk on the north side of the highway will allow the neighborhoods to access intersections along SR 522 and the regional trail system. This will promote pedestrian and bicycle usage.
Traffic impacts during construction
- Lane closures will be limited to off-peak and nighttime hours.
- Drivers will see lots of traffic cones and lane shifts throughout the 18-month project.
- Drivers should remember to slow down in construction zones.
- The City will try to minimize noisy nighttime work.
City and regional officials participated in a groundbreaking event on Monday, April 15 for SR 522 Phase 3,
The public is invited to an open house to learn more about the project:
