[ARCHIVED] Unveiling LEGO City Hall at Fourth of July Celebration

In collaboration with the Seattle Area LEGO Users Group (SEALUG), the City of Bothell recently purchased a scale model of The Bothell City Hall building made entirely out of LEGOs.
“There was a core group of around four builders who have been working tirelessly to put the parts together,” said the assistant project director for the build. “It’s truly a work of art.”
Planning for the model began in late 2018, with construction starting the following January. The team spent nearly 300 hours building the model, which consists of over 12,000 LEGO pieces bought from all across the country.

The model will be on display to the public during the Freedom Parade Celebration at City Hall Plaza from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m on July 4. Additionally, there will be interactive LEGO activities for the whole family.

Consisting of 80 members, SEALUG was started in 1999 and is one of 75 LEGO endorsed groups in the U.S. with over 200 groups worldwide. SEALUG has worked on other various LEGO projects including a 20-foot-long recreation of the Seattle waterfront, as well as a model of the Mukilteo Lighthouse that was presented at the Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival.

The model will leave city hall from October 2-7 to be showcased at BrickCon in Seattle.
Once details have been finalized, the city will let the public know the final display location of the model and its availability for public viewing.
