[ARCHIVED] City of Bothell Proclaims Local Emergency in Response to COVID-19

ECC

BOTHELL, WA –  On March 5th, City of Bothell Mayor Liam Olsen issued a Proclamation of Local Emergency to support county and regional efforts to mitigate COVID-19. The City of Bothell falls within King and Snohomish Counties, both with confirmed cases.

The proclamation streamlines several city processes so staff and first responders can quickly procure supplies, equipment, and services that may be needed to ensure the health and safety of the community. It is effective immediately and will be placed on the March 17 City Council meeting agenda for ratification.

In addition to preparing for increased financial and operational flexibility, the City of Bothell:

 •    Activated the Emergency Coordination Center to plan and execute precautionary measures and response logistics. Staff continue to work closely with both King County Public Health and Snohomish Health District, and local community partners to monitor rapidly changing conditions.

•    Is regularly sharing health agency information and resources. We strongly encourage community members to stay informed by checking King County Public Health and Snohomish County Health District  websites for guidance and recommendations.

•    Formed an outreach team who has been connecting with older adult facilities, vulnerable populations, faith-based organizations, community leaders and businesses to ensure they are receiving the right information and resources.

 Schedule Changes and Cancellations

•    City Hall is still operating at this time, although we are preparing for some staff to move to alternate work schedules.

•    We are limiting in-person traffic into the city hall lobby.  Please give us a call at 425-806-6100 instead of coming to City Hall. Staff can help you conduct your business over the phone or online.

•    Police Department is limiting access to their station and community room and has suspended fingerprinting services.

•    City of Bothell Block D Open House scheduled for March 10th has been canceled.

•    All Boards and Commission meetings for the month of March have been canceled.

•    City Council will still be meeting on March 17th, but with an adjusted agenda.

 Parks and Recreation

•    Recreation classes from now until March 31st have been canceled. Parks is in the process of notifying registrants and refunds may be applied when applicable.

•    All city parks, restrooms, fields and facilities remain open at this time.
