In their meeting on April 20th, 2021, Bothell City Council expressed their gratitude for Board and Commission members coming to the end of their tenures and welcomed new members.
Board and Commission members serve a vital advisory role to City Council and staff. They help formulate new ideas, hear and receive public comments, analyze complex issues, and make recommendations for specific projects and policies.
“Volunteering for these important roles takes time and commitment and we know that everyone is busy,” stated Mayor Liam Olsen. “Their tireless involvement in our civic process makes our decision-making better.”
Earlier this year, the City sought members for several different Board and Commission vacancies and received more than 40 applications.
City Council interviewed candidates and appointed the following to new terms:
Arts Commission - Hillary Long, Marybeth Turk, Coby Zeifman
Landmark Preservation Board – Rami Al-Kabra, Alex Babadzhanov, Larry Reed
Library Board – Erika Olson
Lodging Tax Advisory Committee – Brittany Caldwell, Catherine Lalley, Laura Lilley
Parks Board – Laura Borner
Planning Commission – Claire Robson, Cary Westerbeck
Shorelines Board – Suzanne Burnell, Carolyn Schaefer
Per local code, the following appointment was made by the City Manager:
Civil Service Commission – Beca Nistrian
