[ARCHIVED] Bothell Police Officers Awarded Life Saving Medal

Police Chief Ken Seuberlich hands Officer Coby Russell a life saving medal.

Police Chief Ken Seuberlich awarded two of his officers Life Saving medals.

In a brief January 26 ceremony,  Chief Seuberlich took a moment to honor and thank one of those officers;  Coby Russell.

Russell was recognized for heroic action taken in September, 2021, after Bothell 911 dispatchers got a call about a suicidal person who needed help, right away. Officer Russell looks at his medal and certificate of award

Russell was among two officers who quickly arrived at the scene. They located a person with self-inflicted wounds, in dire need of help.  The officers realized there wasn't a moment to spare.

Using their training and first aid skills, officers were able to save the person's life by applying a tourniquet to stop further blood loss

The subject was transported to Harborview Medical Center by Bothell Firefighters, and survived.
