"K915 in service! Ro and Officer Jordal are on patrol, serving the Bothell community.” Operations Captain Susy Johnson shared the good news at Bothell Police.
On March 10, Allegro "Ro" passed Washington State’s rigorous certification test to become a Patrol K9.
Asked if he was surprised by Ro’s performance, K9 Officer James Jordal said, "Not at all! He is really smart!”
The certification test followed more than 400 hours of training. Ro learned to follow Jordal’s commands and to use one of his most valuable assets; his nose.
The hard work clearly paid off.
"He located all of the evidence,” said Jordal. “He used his nose really well to succeed.”
On patrol, K9 Ro will work with Officer Jordal to locate evidence and suspects following a crime.
Ultimately, Ro may serve in many capacities, including public outreach, thanks to his intelligence and temperament.
“Ro is a very friendly dog,” said Captain Johnson.
The K9 team’s progress and certification are due to the great training by Marysville Police Department's K-9 Officer Brad Smith, who facilitated all of the training in partnership with our city.
Ro joined Bothell Police as a Patrol-dog-in training after a July 20 unanimous vote by Bothell City Council. The vote supported Bothell Police’s acceptance of community donations to purchase a dog for the department’s existing K9 program. Watch the city council's vote.,
Bothell Police wishes to thank the generous community donors who made the purchase of Allegro possible.
