Women Shaking Hand

Due to a recent resignation, Bothell City Council is now accepting applications for Council Position #6. Help shape city services and be a voice for our community by applying to become a City of Bothell councilmember. The deadline to apply is Friday, July 1st at 4 p.m. Applications received after the deadline will not be excepted.

Once an individual is appointed by the current City Council, the new Councilmember will serve the remainder of the unexpired term through December 31, 2023, receiving a monthly salary of $1,250. City of Bothell operates under the Council-Manager form of government. The seven-member City Council serves as the legislative body of the City. The Council is responsible for setting policy, adopting the biennial budget, adopting laws and determining the services the City provides as well as the funding levels for those services.

Applicant Requirements

Applicants must be a registered voter in the City of Bothell and have resided within City of Bothell city limits for at least one year prior to appointment. State law requires councilmembers to file financial disclosure with the Washington Public Disclosure Commission including income, asset and debt information, which will be accessible to the public. Candidate interviews are expected to be held in early to mid July, and the new Councilmember will likely be sworn in the week of July 25th. Council vacancies are governed by State Law (RCW 42.12 and 35A.13.020).
