Sustainamania is back with a week-long series of in-person and virtual activities from August 6 – 13 to bring the community of Bothell together on ways to live more sustainably.
Sustainamania started in 2012 as a way for the Bothell community to celebrate and learn about sustainability. In previous years, this event has been attended by thousands of community members and in the past two years, has been a virtual scavenger hunt connecting people to the natural world and local sustainability efforts.
While the event has grown and changed over the years, the goal remains the same. “It is our hope to engage the Bothell community on numerous areas of sustainability including food, water, energy, stewardship and conservation, climate change, transportation, and waste reduction”, Gena Jain of Bothell’s Sustainability team stated. “Our aim is to promote personal actions generating momentum for lasting behavior change”.
Thanks to community partnerships, Sustainamania 2022 has a great line up of fun events planned each day throughout the week! The week kicks off on August 6 with a Whale Scout restoration event at the former Wayne Golf Course, where the whole family can get their hands dirty and help restore invaluable habitat for salmon migration. Other events include a rain barrel painting workshop, a climate dialogue event focusing on energy, a tour of Sound Sustainable Farms, and a recycling workshop. Each time you attend an event, you will be entered into a drawing for one of three sustainability prize packages, helping you to waste less, recycle more, and eat local.
