City of Bothell Welcomes New Councilmember

Councilmember Dodd taking oath

Please join City of Bothell in welcoming Amanda Dodd to Bothell City Council. On Tuesday October 4, King County Council appointed Amanda to fill vacated Bothell City Council Position #6 for the remainder of the unexpired term – through December 31, 2023.

Councilmember Dodd is a longtime resident having moved to Bothell at the age of 5. She most recently served on the Planning Commission and is a Bothell Community Emergency Response Team volunteer. She has also volunteered for a number of local nonprofits and participated in Bothell Police’s first-ever Community Academy in 2021.

Councilmember Dodd looks forward to working with fellow councilmembers to address affordable housing as well as public safety, and to find ways to expand community relationships.

“I would love to help keep Bothell solvent and vibrant. Our community often voices their desire for more robust parks and facilities, preservation of natural areas, all-ages events and things that bring us together,” Councilmember Dodd shared.

Position #6 became vacant earlier this year when State Representative Davina Duerr, announced her resignation.

Bothell City Council interviewed a number of highly qualified candidates in July of 2022 and in a unanimous agreement – pursuant to RCW 42.12 and 35A.13.020 -- entrusted King County with appointing the most appropriate candidate.

City of Bothell operates under the Council-Manager form of government. The seven-member City Council serves as the legislative body of the City. The Council is responsible for setting policy, adopting the biennial budget, adopting laws and determining the services the city provides as well as the funding levels for those services.
