Learn how to save a life. Every year, over 350,000 people die from cardiac arrest in the United States. With your help, we can bring that number down.
Beginning this spring, Bothell Fire Department will offer American Heart Association’s (AHA) Heartsaver CPR/AED and First Aid classes to the community.
“We are thrilled to bring CPR and first aid training to Bothell. Having community members who are able to perform CPR before responders arrive, substantially increases a victim’s chance of survival. Every second counts when someone is in cardiac arrest,” Erin Gowenlock, Bothell Fire’s Public Educator shares.
Students will develop basic first-aid knowledge, skills and confidence to respond.
“Less than 50% of cardiac arrest victims get help before emergency responders arrive. Together, we can change that.”
Classes are open to residents ($51) and non-residents ($62) and will be held quarterly at Fire Station 42 located at 10726 Beardslee Blvd. Community members can find upcoming classes, registration details and frequently asked questions here.

Cardiac arrest occurs when the heart malfunctions and stops beating unexpectedly. Seconds later, a person will become unresponsive and unable to breathe. Death can occur within minutes if a victim does not receive treatment.
CPR – or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation – is an emergency lifesaving procedure that is performed when the heart stops beating. Immediate CPR can double or triple a person's chance of survival after cardiac arrest.
Bothell Fire Department’s CPR program has adaptive manikins and new AED trainers that give students the most up-to-date and realistic experience so that if they do witness someone going into cardiac arrest, they feel empowered to act. Be the difference, become a Heartsaver, and sign up to learn this lifesaving skill.
