Sherry Ying Ruden’s award-winning two-dimensional art is currently on display at Bothell City Hall through April 3. Sherry draws inspiration from her experiences bridging the East and West where she explores the innovative use of traditional Chinese rice paper, paint, ink, and cold wax.
Through the delicate yet surprisingly versatile medium of rice paper, Sherry embraces the concept of Zì-Rán 自然, which translates to "Nature" in Chinese and represents the interconnectedness of all things. Her work is guided by an Eastern philosophy that the highest form of art is the art of living in the present moment.
Meet Sherry and consider purchasing her work at the upcoming Bothell Art Walk on Thursday, March 13, from 5-8 p.m. The Art Walk pairs local businesses with artists for an evening of community fun in celebration of art, music and culture.
The Bothell City Hall Art Gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
