1. What is a retail incubator?

Pop Shops On Main nurtures new small business owners by removing barriers to starting a small business and providing technical resources.

2. What is included in the retail space?

Participants in Pop Shops On Main are provided a 8’ x 10’ retail space that includes utilities, heat, a portable AC unit, and garbage service.

3. Do the Pop Shops have running water?

No. A portable restroom is located on site.

4. What are the requirements of participating in the retail incubator program?

Entrepreneurs are required to pay 10% of their monthly revenue, keep regular shop hours, provide their own signage, and attend monthly roundtable sessions with the Small Business Development Center to discuss what it takes to run a small business.

5. What are the technical resources provided?

The City of Bothell has partnered with the Washington Small Business Development Center to provide technical assistance like learning how to write a business plan, creating a marketing plan, or understanding the financial needs of your business are examples of the SBDC’s technical expertise. 6. Do the Pop Shops pay rent?

No but entrepreneurs are required to pay 10% of their monthly revenue, 

7. What are the Pop Shops’ hours of operation?

Pop Shops are required to maintain regular business hours: Thursday – Saturday, noon – 6 p.m. and Sunday, noon – 5 p.m.

8. Are there any other requirements?

Entrepreneurs enter into a concession agreement with the City of Bothell, are required to a City of Bothell business license, and insurance.
