Tenant Protections Focus Group for Renters
Wednesday, January 15, 2025
Do you rent an apartment, condo, house, or other unit in Bothell? We want to hear from you! You're invited to join us for a focus group at City Hall on January 15 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Like other cities in the region, Bothell is considering tenant protections and increased education efforts to improve housing stability and to address issues like rent increase notification timelines, caps on move-in fees, or caps on security deposits. Please note, we are not considering rent caps, because they’re not allowed per state statute.
Earlier this year, we heard from residential renters during a community needs assessment project, and we also heard from landlords in a recent focus group. We’re now seeking more in-depth feedback from renters and tenants. If you want to participate, either in person or virtually, please email Anand Manthripragada, the City's Human Services Coordinator, at anand.manthripragada@bothellwa.gov. You can also contact him for more information or to provide your feedback if you’re unable to attend.
City Staff will present the community’s feedback and initial recommendations for tenant protection to the city council by the end of the first quarter of 2025.
